Second Grade / Welcome to 2nd Grade    
Welcome to Second Grade! We are excited to continue your child’s academic journey and build on the skills they learned in first grade. Through engaging activities and our specialized approach, your child will be well-prepared for the challenges of the upcoming school year. The teachers will send home daily folders that will contain your child's behavior, homework, finished papers, and/or notes from school. Please review this nightly! It is our way to communicate with you and you can communicate with your child's teacher. We are committed to ensuring that your child will have the best possible start to the school year and we look forward to a successful and rewarding experience.

Weekly Folders: 
Each week, your child will receive a weekly folder that contains their graded work for the week. The folder will be sent home every Monday and should be returned to the school by Wednesday.

Study Guides: 
Study guides will be sent home per unit in Math, Science, and Social Studies. It is the student’s responsibility to know the information on the study guides. Additionally, weekly spelling lists will be sent home in preparation for weekly spelling tests.

Daily Folders:
Folders will come home daily with returned work. Additionally, these folders will be used for communication purposes, and will also contain study guides and spelling lists for easy access.

Reading Quizzes: 
Students will have a weekly reading quiz. They will be allowed to use their reading books during the quiz as a reference. It will be an open-book quiz.

Reading:
It is not required to fill out a reading log, however, it is important to read with your child every night.
