Assistant Principal
Dear Tappahannock Elementary School Community,
Hello. I am Carol Harrison, and I am honored to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal of Tappahannock Elementary School. I am excited to serve this community and collaborate with you to ensure the success of all our students.
On a personal note, I am married to my husband, Kevin, and together we have three daughters, ages 29, 18, and 12, a son, age 7, a son-in-law, and a granddaughter, age 3. My family wouldn’t be complete without our chocolate lab, Marley and our newest addition, Maggie, a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix. Family is very important to me. I cherish the time we spend together whether it be cheering on the youngest at sporting events, spending the day at the beach or pool, or just settling down at home for some family time. I also enjoy running and diving into a good book.
In my 20 years of experience in education, I have served as a Reading Specialist as well as a classroom teacher at multiple grade levels. I hold a Master’s Degree in Special Education, and I am currently completing my Master’s in Educational Leadership. I started my career in Essex County Public Schools. After serving 10 years there, followed by 9 years in Richmond County Public Schools, last year I took the opportunity to return to where it all began. My journey in education has been driven by a passion for fostering student growth and enhancing learning experiences. I am excited to collaborate with all of you as we work towards a year of growth and shared achievement.
Our school community suffered a devastating loss this summer with the untimely passing of our Principal, Ms. Nicole Daily. I was honored to be able to work alongside her last year. She was not only a colleague but a friend as well. Her dedication to our school and her mission to empower every student to succeed have left an indelible mark. My goal is to continue her legacy by upholding her vision and ensuring that our commitment to student success remains unwavering.
While I will be spending a majority of my days in the classrooms, I want you to know that I am here to support you as well. If you have any questions or concerns at any time during the school year, please feel free to reach out to me via email or phone so we can schedule a time that is convenient for you to discuss them. My door is always open. We are a team, working together to ensure our students reach their highest potential.
I look forward to working closely with each of you and continuing the great work Ms. Nicole Daily started at Tappahannock Elementary School. Together, we will strive to create a supportive and thriving environment for our students.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Carol Harrison
