Tappahannock Elementary School students attend "Special Classes" everyday. Here are some of the great things your child will be doing when they attend these classes.

Students are given an opportunity for personal expression and creativity while attending art class. Art projects allow TES students to help develop their fine motor skills.

There are over 13,000 books and materials for students and teachers to check out. At the TES library students are taught information literacy skills and have SOL related lessons that are aligned with their classroom curriculum. Make sure books are returned on time.

Students learn a variety of music concepts which includes reading music, music history, traditional folk music, rhythms and more. Lessons correlate with the SOL's as they sing, dance, and and play musical instruments.

Physical Education

TES students have 50 minutes of physical education in grades K-4 and 30 minutes for pre-kindergarten. We cover a variety of activities and sports related skills in a safe and fun environment. All students need to come prepared to class with tennis shoes on.

Compass Lab

TES students alternate with  Reading and Math in the Compass Lab. This year they will have a new research-based program called "Compass Learning". It's an interactive program that will engage our TES students. Struggling students will have their needs met and advanced students will be able to accelerate! We are looking forward to a great year.
