The third grade teachers are really excited about the upcoming school year! We would like to give you some important information that will help make your child's year in third grade successful.
Homework
Third grade will periodically assign homework, if we assign homework, teachers will notify parents electronically or on paper. When homework assignments are given, they will be written on the board as a reminder for the child. It is your child's responsibility to make sure the homework assignment is placed in the folder and taken home. Please go over your child's homework assignments and help him/her make any corrections. Homework is additional practice of the skills taught during the school day and it allows you to see what your child is doing. If something should occur and an assignment cannot be completed, write a note so that we are aware of the situation.
Weekly Work Folders
The third grade teachers will be sending home "Weekly Work Folders" that will contain your child's graded work from the previous week. It will be sent home every Monday and your child will need to present his/her work to you. Inside the folder there will be two forms that need to be signed. The first form will need to be signed by you and your child to show that their work was presented to you. The second form is a communication log completed by the homeroom teacher. This folder serves as a communication tool between home and school, so please return it no later than Wednesday.
Also, we will be utilizing Google Classroom as a communication tool as well. Please check your child's classes to read important information, to view upcoming, completed, and missing assignments, comments on work, and graded work.
Supplies
All students will need to have the required school supplies. As the year progresses, please check with your child frequently for any supplies that may need to be replenished. If you have difficulty providing school supplies for any reason, please contact his/her teachers or the Guidance Counselor. We will see what we can do to help.
