Second grade teachers are looking forward to the upcoming school year. We would like to inform you of some important information about second grade.

Homework:
Daily homework will not be given in Second Grade.
Weekly Folders:
Each week your child will receive a weekly folder that contains your child’s graded work for the week. It will be sent home every Monday. Inside the folder will be two forms to be signed. The first will be signed by you and your child, showing that he/she has presented their work to you. The second form is one from the teacher. Please be sure that both forms are signed weekly. Please return folders to school by
Wednesday.
Agendas:
This year, your child will be using an agenda to keep track of homework and important events happening at school. Please check and initial your child’s agenda nightly.
Newsletters:
Each week, your child will receive a newsletter that goes over important events happening at school, upcoming quizzes and tests, and information about what is being taught in all subjects (language arts, math, science, and social studies).
Snack:
Your child will have a designated snack time each day. Your child may bring in a small snack and drink (no sodas please).
Study Guides
Study guides will be sent home per unit in Math, Science, and Social Studies. Study guides are used to review important material for each unit taught. Students are responsible for knowing the information on the study guides.
Weekly spelling lists will come home to prepare for weekly spelling tests.
Please read with your child each night (however, it is not required to fill out a reading log).
Daily Folders
Folders will come home daily with returned work.
Folders will also be used for communication-notes/notices may be sent home or to school in these folders
Study guides and spelling lists will also be kept in this folder for easy access.
Reading Quizzes
Students will have a reading quiz weekly. Students are able to use their reading books during their quiz to prove their answers. It is an
open book quiz.
