Doranda Scott has been appointed as the new principal of Essex Intermediate School beginning 7/1/18.  ECPS received many qualified candidate applications.  A committee made up of faculty, administrative staff, parents, and a School Board member selected the finalists for my review.  After conducting interviews, Ms. Scott was the candidate of choice.  I was impressed by her background in educational leadership and her clear understanding that building strong relationships is critical in meeting the learning needs of our students.  Ms. Scott currently serves as Assistant Principal in Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland.  I am confident that ECPS and the larger community will collectively welcome Ms. Scott to the community and support her efforts on behalf of our students. 

As previously indicated, Heather Gentry, the current Principal of Essex Intermediate School, will serve in the role of Director of Curriculum and Gifted Education starting 7/1/18 as part of a budget neutral reorganization of the instructional department.
